Short film co-directed with Nawel WESTEEL.
Project made in collaboration with the association Tara - Childhood Protection and Education based in Dheli, for the project The Undefeated. This film is composed of several short films inspired mainly by children's testimonies collected by Tara but also by testimonies of parents and people working for the association.
A Butterfly is a short film created from the testimony of Julie, nurse at Tara.
Julie, accompanies little Sangeetha, 6 years old, to the hospital for her medical follow-up. She shares a special bond with the little girl, her feelings, her emotions, her struggle with her physical difficulties and her mental retardation. She's witnessing Sangeetha's meteoric evolution and blossoming, comparing her story to the metamorphosis of a butterfly.
The goal was to create a reaction by not really "Showing" the story but feeling it. We thought about synaesthesia as a way to create an empathic link between the child and the audience.
