We had to imagine what would be the best collaboration film between Spotify & Rio de Janeiro's annual Carnival. The goal was to keep the spirit of the event while promoting the streaming app. In a team of four, we decided to create a concept and we would communicate about it through a advertising film.
The main idea is : “Wear” your music to express your identity
The concept is to create a Spotify Special event during which we can customize a kind of "avatar" according to our listening statistics around a special playlist for the 2023 Carnival edition. Each time your favorit songs change, your avatr is modified.

The first step was to obtain references, colors and shapes for the items. We dived into the world of the Carnaval, its music, its colors and how to simplify all of those beautiful outfits into cute and appealing little avatars.
Then, i took over the Shading and Lighting part. The goal was to attempt to a light and colorfull look, but without losing the détails and the diversity of Carnaval's outfit. So after designing really simple outfits, i decided to add some decorative elements through the shaders. From the detailed copper to the rough gum, passing by the used jewelry, i created a library of paramteric shaders that could be declined in different colors, pattern, etc.
