For this project, i had to create a film based on the concept of light. In this wide range of possibilities, i chose to create a Title Sequence for a non existing show about how to lear and remember better by learning to focus your attention and hack your brain to avoid wrong habits developped by the social media short content.
The idea was to reprent that feeling of information overlord by using the metaphor of light (knowledge) and darkness (ignorance) to talk about our new way of seeking knowledge at every second of our lives but in fact learning nothing. Using this projection in an abstract 3D space make it easy to feel overloaded by visual element, while still understanding the link between the speech and the film.
Projection mapping in 3D software allow us to create 2D fascinating animation while using the realistic aesthetic of 3D space and lighting. In fact, i thought about create a real 3D mapping show after this project to use this experience to rpresent lost or ancient architecture and mapping on it.
The first step was to understand the concept of projection mapping and how to work with this medium. Along with that, i had to search for good references about knowledge and light-to-dark artwork that could be used as bases for this film.
For once, i had to create only one shader that could be used on every element in this film. The most important element being the animated projection, i needed to work with a discret shader but keeping the subject and aesthetic together. I chose to work on a used concrete by melting to different shader together and blending the separation between them.
For the projection, i wanted to recreate an old pixel Tv look by messing with the after effect project until acheving the look I wanted.
